Chiang Mai Trip

I just came back from a three days two night trip at Chiang Mai, Thailand and would like to share my experiences with you guys.

  We  (me and my mum) reached Chiang Mai at about 5:30pm (local time) and immediately checked in to my hotel which is located in the middle of town and 30 minutes away from the airport. Click for more details about the hotel which is a great option for those who are travelling on budget.

After checking in we started getting ready for the driver to take us to the Night Safari that we pre-booked online through this website https://www.kkday.com/en/product/2195

* Night Safari

  The whole trip was very fascinating for me since I’ve only been to zoos and this is the first time I came in such close contact with animals. There are two train railways that you can take the Night Predators trail and the Savannah trail. For me it’s a great place to go see rare animals that you don’t get in zoos like wolves, hyenas and foxes, but it’s not very “picture friendly” because there’s no lights (to not disturb the animals natural habitat) only a single from the train allowing the human eyes to see clearly, not the camera. So please be considerate with the below pictures if their kind of blur (although its already considered HD compared to the others that I did not post)

* Wat Umong

The next morning we went to Wat Umong which is quiet with less tourists and a more natural environment compared to the popular temples like Doi Suthep. It is also special from other temples because of its underground tunnels. But be sure to wear long pants and not shorts, for we had learned that the hard way and were not allowed to go in the tunnels.

* Bhubing Palace

The palace is located on a mountain which is covered with thick fog when it rains adding a bit more mysterious atmosphere to it. Also there is a large rose garden filled with all types of different types and colours of roses. If you are wearing shorts you need to go rent a local traditional long skirt from the shops opposite of the palace 20 Baht per person, or you could just buy one of them for your later visiting at about 100 Baht.

* Doi Suthep

This temple is more popular therefore always packed with people and its located at the top of the same mountain as the Bhubing Palace. Also you have to walk a 3000+ steps of staircase to reach the top and there are also food and souvenir shops at the entrance for you to buy.

* Art in Paradise

The gallery is located quite close to my hotel just in walking distance of 12 minutes. This is a 3D Art Gallery filled with a bunch of amazing paintings, perfect for those who like to take pictures. You can also download an app which is meant for this gallery which can add special effects to the paintings.

* Night Bazaar

The Night Bazaar also known as Sunday Walking Street was packed with people selling all kinds of souvenirs and delicious foods and snacks.

* Chinatown

It might have the name Chinatown but it still sells local fruits and vegetables with many stores around for breakfast . Also it’s quite clean without the bad smell a wet market usually has.

* Transportation

When going around the town you can either get a grab by asking your hotel to contact them or take the red coloured Tuk Tuks that are seen everywhere that only costs 30 Baht per person.
